Pigtail Princess ~~~ Counterfeit Layout 2

So here I am playing with my Countefeit Kit some more. After seeing the tutorial on the journaling spot I wanted to try this too. My wood-like piece is actually some old shelf liner so it has a very smooth surface that would not work to write on; therefore, when I go to use this piece I will using journaling strips. The toadstools were cut with my Cricut and the jeweled fastener piece is some Prima bling. I intended to use it on the layout I just made, but this journaling spot was a little too large for the layout.

Pigtail Princess

This picture is about ten years old and it's a picture of a friend's daughter hunting for Easter eggs. I followed a sketch for the design of the layout. I wanted to mat the circle to make it pop out, but I did not have a large enough piece of orange paper left, so I went with a pleat. I used my decorative scissors on the edge of the pleat and a tulip and heart edge punch to also dress-up the pleat. I inked and chalked the ruffle to give even more volume. Also I hole punch distressed the strips of butterfly paper using a butterfly punch. Because I liked my envelop journaling spot so much, I made a tiny one to fit this page. The flower is a hand-made "elegant ruffled" flower. I cut the title out on my Cricut with the wood-like shelf liner paper. I give that a big thumbs up for being super easy. I think I may invest in more shelf liner. The Cricut cut through it even better than paper and I simply peel off the back and it sticks to the project.

Here's a page left over from February's Counterfeit kit. Again my son in Venice. This is one of Mandy AKA "CraftSprinkles" sketches. I used an old film negative to make this mask.

And one final word. After putting the finishing touches on my February page, I must say it was much easier to work with than this month's kit. There is a another plus with the counterfeit kit challenge, you can try out the kits and see which works best with your style.
