If you do not have ink in the color you want to use for edge distressing use a marker. I will trace around an item with a marker and if I want more of an inky look I'll run the edge in a damp sponge. Also a light mist of water work well to give an awesome distressed look.
Check out these wild roses. For the tan and brown roses I used a thin generic pink marker and a little dab of water.
They have the vintage look..
