Brittany Happy Sweet 16

Here's the album for her sweet 16. I decided to just send her the embellishments since she has a very natural creative ability with scrap pages. She can decorate the cover and liner how she wants. She can also add to the pages. I used Laura D's stack the technique for assembling the album. You must see her brilliant designs and amazing work. Check out her blog and ustream shows.

Here's one of the small folded photo mat. I love these elegant ruffled flowers. Also I have a very tiny ladybug with transparency as wings. I stamped the image on a variety of papers and paper pieced them

I love the color for this album. I just wish I had an opportunity to take better pictures, but it had to get in the mail to the birthday girl. Thanks to Shona for this brilliant banner idea.

More DIY embellies for my Counterfeit Kit

Okay this is it!!!! I am done making goodies. Tomorrow I'll make photo mats and start embellishing my step-daughter's sweet sixteen album. I converted my pile of die cuts and dressed-up the remaining DIY emebellies into this assortment of goodies.

This week I've managed to build a garden for my counterfeit kit. Tomorrow I hope to have a few more handmade embellies like paper pieced ladybugs and such. After that it is time to start assembling the album.

Bound and Attached Mini

I have my step-daughters album bound and attached and now I must get to my favorite part: EMBELLISHMENTS!

But before I show you sneak peeks I want to point out that the wonderful Irene Tan aka "scrapperlicious" is having a give away for her book launch. I am a huge fan of Irene Tan and will channel her spirit and inspiration when I add all the embellishments and tags to Brittany's album. I sure hope you'll check out her generous give away here.
I am a super bad counterfeiter. I went to the scrap store today and picked two sheets of paper to go with this kit, including the "Number Grid." Ohhh no... will the scrap police stuff and cuff me?


This is Laura from Follow the Paper Trail stack the deck technique.
I also used her telescoping tags on the letter tags.
I used regular envelopes, but next time I do this I will make library envelopes. It will take more paper, but my tags can be thicker. A thicker tag means more embellishments and I love flowers, bling and page yummies.

Febuary Counterfeit Kit

This is the month of Brittany and all month long I plan to celebrate her 16th birthday. I knew I was on a deadline to complete a mini album so I decided to join the always inspirational Counterfeit Kit Challenge. This month we're "stealing" from ... wait ...... scratch that... counterfeiters steal from their own stashes to imitate scrapbook kits clubs.... Anyhoo, this month counterfeiters are "borrowing" ideas from Scrapbook Circle. I'm using the "You + Me" with a twist. While I like the cute Valentine holiday stuff, I needed to make it special for Brit Brit; after all, it is her month. Her favorite color WAS purple, but I guess after kids grow up, we adults forget to ask those simple questions. Interestingly her school colors are scarlet and white, so I can I could use the "You + Me" as a general guide. I drew from the red, black, white, and kraft paper brown. I used old dictionary, grocery bags, cardstock, We R Memory Keepers "Old Glory" and the pink papers are from Me and My Big Book of Ideas.

Now her album is meant to be a modified gate-folded mini using Laura Denison's stack the deck and telescoping techniques. As an added challenge I wanted the pull tabs to spell her name. I did the chipboard and cut the envelopes Saturday night anticipating the announcement of which kit we would counterfeit.

Some parts that caught my eyes was the cheveron paper. What a popular idea these are.
Lucky for me I read close to 100 blogs a day and I store away many ideas I want to try at the progressive challenge I host at sb.com. One of these blogs gave tips for a DIY chevron page.


Another part of the kits that stood out was the prevalence of ever popular kraft paper which I have none and as a counterfeiter I did not let that stop me. I have a small stash of brown grocery bags so I pulled out two... one to use in the kit (It'll look amazing as my BINDIND!!!) and one to help with the storage problem I would otherwise have. My standby storage sleeves are all filled with projects I've put on hold for Brit's month or the storage containers hold projects I have in line to start.
Here's my trim stash. I threw paw prints into the mix since she just got a puppy.

This is my take on some of the embellishments. I included the banner page from the "Old Glory" collection. Obviously, I won't be using most of the goodies on this page. I included a heart doily that I think fits original kit while the square doily may be used on the back page. Also I included print out from past counterfeit kits.

Here's a pile of die cuts fresh off my Silhouette. Unfortunately, I had to replace the blade AGAIN and I only cut things six times. Apparently the 110 card stock kills blades each time! Bummer!!! The pile includes lots of flowers and butterflies. There is a dress form somewhere in there, some paw print borders, a heart locket (made to hold extra pics) and an antique light. This week's FREE cut the love tickets are also in this mess.

This final pile of goodies is most of my store bought stuff. There is a few hand-made item my incomplete pocket watch. I also included a tiny handful of clay embellies. This stash includes Dusty Attic chippie corners and crowns. I have Jollee keys and locks and small glass medicine bottles. Instead of the tiny alpha stickers I threw in a few of my tiny alpha stamps.

The winter edition of Enchanting Creations is now posted. There is a great tutorial on barn stars that I adored. One of my favorite scrappy friends Lisa Duke had several items published. This will be a calendar page for my on-going project.... the current pictures (from our wedding) are just for show. This is based on Laura D's stack the deck mini album. It has lots of layers and space for tags to pull out for pictures and journaling. As she calls it .. it has lots of "real estate." The page was completed for the distressing challenge I'm hosting at sb.com and for the January challenge of challenges with Flying Unicorn.

Here's a close-up of the florish and a small clay flower. The copper flower was made with my Best flexible Molds.

This is all the tags pulled out. The page itself is loosely based on a sketch by Tammy at Flying unicorn for the mojo Monday challenge. You see the "real estate."

Here's a close-up of the Donna Salazar dress form that I fussy cut. Also I cut the the gears on my Silhouette CAMEO™. I used it as a mask and the left over mask was used as a gear on the dress form peice.
My handmade cluster has a wire rose bush with some jean materials within the roses. The cameo was made with polymer clay and the mold my husband found me for Christmas. It's called the Krafty Lady Art Moulds. Plus I included a 3-d Martha monarch butterfly punch blinged up with Prima.

Here are two small tags peeking out from their hiding spot. Both tags were made with my Silhouette.
This is my dress form tag. I cut the dress form on my Silhouette. The copper flower was made using Best flexible Molds.

The corset is an origami fold (here's the tutorial) and the paper it is made from is actually wedding wrapping paper. I added jean material, beads, safety pins and lots of distressing.

RENEW- is my word of the year. My husband and I must adjust our lives and renew our love with the addition of the baby to the family. It's not that we have lost the love, but our love has transformed and "renew" was the best word I could think of to explain this transition in our lives.
