Here I go closing out one month and starting a new month with a new grungy page to share. This page will be another page of my mom's calendar mini album.

And it is using the Laura Denson's stack the deck binding technique.

I did a lot of masking on this page. I first cut out on scrap paper the design I wanted masked for this page like the space around the twirled banners. I covered the mask with drywall tape. Next I applied molding paste. After molding paste I blended acrylic paints to the desired colors. I poured all four colors of the paste down my craft mat and rolled a smaller paint roller through the paint create stripes of paint. I rolled the paint onto the page using the technique they teach you for house paint application at Home Depot... criss-cross.


Using a craft knife I cut out and popped up the flowers from the background paper. I layered a similar paper under the flowers so that the tulle could still be laced down the page. Of course I added the tulle stitching over an old dictionary page sprayed with Tattered Angels mist.

This is mostly Donna Salazar papers and the name plate I hand-cut and mounted on a piece of denim. I stacked the alphas and instead of using the actual alphas in the package (because they're too big for this mini), I cut them from the back of the package. I'm going to make the most of the amazing Donna haul I acquired!


I looped the flags up creating even more dimension to this page. I stitched around the border left by the mask.

One of the circles is an old lemon-aide lid painted cooper. This is one of those techniques my friend Anna does and I thought it would be great way to create a focal point.

I must admit I have another chunky (I mean fluffy) page for my mom's mini album.

Beware Big Belly Bump

If you don't like looking at BIG prego belly bumps or if stretch marks bother you SKIP this POST. I have put together a mini album for my prego pictures.

I won this wonderful purse chipboard mini album from Flying Unicorn during their blog hop. Since I only have boys, I initially thought I'd make the album for my niece. Knowing how little people can be tough on mini albums i decided to make the album look like a jean purse. When I grabbed the jeans and decided how I wanted to cut them, I realized the jeans I wanted to use were the maternity overall shorts I wore for BOTH my pregnancies (at least for the last one as long as my belly could fit in them). At that point I remembered I had lots of prego belly pictures that needed scrapping. I tried my best to stay true the overalls and add the straps.

Due to the volume of pictures I went ahead and built a you tube picture show.

Here's one last project a HOPE banner. I wanted to to be the title but it really did not "fit" with the album.

Grunge Fun on March One

Bring on another month! And to kick this month off. I put the final touches on my latest GRUNGE page. This page will be part of my mom's calandar mini album. And it is using the Laura Denson's stack the deck binding technique.

These tags all slide into the page which is actually an envelope.

As a wonderful surprise for my birthday my wonderful scrap pal Amy sent me these stunning royal purple rose and the matching sparkly butterflies. Here blooms and butterflies far out-do anything any manufacture can make. You can shop for her goodies here. My purple paint fought me as I made this flourish so it came out a tad smeary. The copper flowers are made from polymer clay and a mold from Penni Jo.

These flowers are wild roses found at this tutorial.

Here's a close up of one of Amy's amazing flowers. The fence was cut on my silhouette and I painted with acrylic paints. I used one Donna Salazar scraps and this tag with the purple monarch butterflies is also part of her collect. Adding grunge and following one of Natasha's lacing tutorials made me feel the total Girl Grunge spirit.


Cardboard title traced in copper acrylic paint. This shoot shows off the Ginger Smooches I won at a challenge on Girlie Gunge. When I first sprayed it I thought "man what will I do with this you can't see you can hardly see it." Now I swear I will use on every page to give it this final glistening effect. This locket was made with my silhouette. I was Ecstasy to find that the silhouette store had a locket, but I decided to improvise. It's a spot to store more picture.

Brittany Happy Sweet 16

Here's the album for her sweet 16. I decided to just send her the embellishments since she has a very natural creative ability with scrap pages. She can decorate the cover and liner how she wants. She can also add to the pages. I used Laura D's stack the technique for assembling the album. You must see her brilliant designs and amazing work. Check out her blog and ustream shows.

Here's one of the small folded photo mat. I love these elegant ruffled flowers. Also I have a very tiny ladybug with transparency as wings. I stamped the image on a variety of papers and paper pieced them

I love the color for this album. I just wish I had an opportunity to take better pictures, but it had to get in the mail to the birthday girl. Thanks to Shona for this brilliant banner idea.

This will be a calendar page for my on-going project.... the current pictures (from our wedding) are just for show. This is based on Laura D's stack the deck mini album. It has lots of layers and space for tags to pull out for pictures and journaling. As she calls it .. it has lots of "real estate." The page was completed for the distressing challenge I'm hosting at sb.com and for the January challenge of challenges with Flying Unicorn.

Here's a close-up of the florish and a small clay flower. The copper flower was made with my Best flexible Molds.

This is all the tags pulled out. The page itself is loosely based on a sketch by Tammy at Flying unicorn for the mojo Monday challenge. You see the "real estate."

Here's a close-up of the Donna Salazar dress form that I fussy cut. Also I cut the the gears on my Silhouette CAMEO™. I used it as a mask and the left over mask was used as a gear on the dress form peice.
My handmade cluster has a wire rose bush with some jean materials within the roses. The cameo was made with polymer clay and the mold my husband found me for Christmas. It's called the Krafty Lady Art Moulds. Plus I included a 3-d Martha monarch butterfly punch blinged up with Prima.

Here are two small tags peeking out from their hiding spot. Both tags were made with my Silhouette.
This is my dress form tag. I cut the dress form on my Silhouette. The copper flower was made using Best flexible Molds.

The corset is an origami fold (here's the tutorial) and the paper it is made from is actually wedding wrapping paper. I added jean material, beads, safety pins and lots of distressing.

RENEW- is my word of the year. My husband and I must adjust our lives and renew our love with the addition of the baby to the family. It's not that we have lost the love, but our love has transformed and "renew" was the best word I could think of to explain this transition in our lives.

Memory Box

This is a project for my mom's birthday. I've always wanted to pose the kids for pictures to represent each month and order a calendar for my mom. Instead I decided to organize a calendar for her and she can select and order prints and collages to represent each month. The plan is for two mini albums (I use very bulky embellies) for each half of the year. This is the box itself - an altered cigar box.

How-Tos:
The name plate was made with a Forever In Time- chipboard tag. I adhered Styrofoam to the chippie and covered that in aluminum foil tape. I used a gel pen to "faux" engrave the plate. I layered the chippie in black, crackle medium, and copper paint.

The pocket watch is a chain and a bottle cap. I used my wire cutters to cut a slit into the top of the watch and I inserted a brad into the slit. Next I painted the chain and bottle cap in layers of black, crackle medium, and copper paint. I glued a clock face into the pocket watch and smeared a little brown chalk on the face. The last step was paint hands on the clock face an to add gloss accents to the clock face.
